Toy Fair Recap: Best of Toys & Merchandise

With over 1,200 companies promoting their toys, Toy Fair was full of products, ranging from the well known to the obscure.  The products below represent what we felt were the best overall toys and merchandise shown at this year's Toy Fair. Best Overall: Thinking Putty by Crazy Aaron Enterprises, Inc. Crazy Aaron himself demonstrated one of his Thinking Putty products for us, the Magnetic Thinking Putty in the video above. Thinking Putty wins best overall though because while Magnetic Putty is such a unique product, they offer a whole line of interesting putties: heat sensitive color-changing putties, glow-in-the-dark putties, metallic putties, and of course the super magnetic putty seen in this video. We were blown away by these concepts, as well as the fact that all of these putties come in a large variety of colors.  Let's also not forget, having a blob of putty at your booth larger than my head also helps score points.  That was quite a visual! Runner Up: Iron Man/Boba Fett clock lamps by Funko The perfect complement to any race car (or x-wing) bed is one of these clock & lamp combos.  I challenge you to find me a Marvel Comics or Star Wars fan who does not think they are cool!  There were also Darth Vader and Stormtrooper models, but these two were the best.  While I have not had much luck convincing my wife that they are a his & hers set for our master bedroom, that doesn't mean I've stopped trying. Runner Up: Matryoshka Madness! The Matryoshka Madness! line of stacking figurines is both a beautiful and funny product.  We love these little things guys simply because they are able to take something as old as a Matryoshka doll and make it cool again.  If we had our pick, we'd take our fellow pirate family home to proudly display on the Modern Day Pirates bookshelf! Runner Up: Phoenix Roller Coaster by CoasterDynamix We've seen build-at-home roller coaster kits before, but never one quite like this.  We'll let the video we took speak for itself:
