Always love your suggestions. Have read Books 2 and 3 and I totally agree. They’re both worth reading again. Haven’t read On Beauty. I’ll go on my county library website right now and request it. I agree, by the way, about curling up with a book at this time of year. I’d add an apple to the mix.

Fall elicits the same response from me! This year I’m reading “Mady By Hand: Searching for Meaning in a Throwaway World” by Mark Frauenfelder and “The Gready Typo Hunt” by Jeff Deck and Benjamin Henson. I’ve been muddling through “Made in America” by Bill Bryson for months, but the colder weather might just inspire me to power through to the end. Great post Amanda!

After I watched The Golden Compass movie, I immediately immersed myself with the books. It is a great trilogy where Phillip Pullman captivates the young and old with the possibilities of other worlds. Along with the enchantment and fantasy of these other worlds, you see adult themes and the questioning of the institution of religion.

I started revisiting the trilogy again, but in audiobook version. They are done very well. It’s nice to have different voice actors playing the different characters.

As much as I want to get back into reading, I have to stick with audiobooks. My current hobby of knitting is taking up my life, so my time to pick up a book other than a graphic novel or manga is limited.

I’ll definitely add the other suggestions to my lists of must read. Great article.
